Service User Achievements

We would like to congratulate LD for all of his hard work and progress since joining the charity in March 2023.  LD has enrolled on a scaffolding labour course and obtained his licence. He has set up and registered his own videography company, investing in his own equipment, and promoting it on social media platforms.  He has also been committed to managing his finances whilst being employed.  Well done on your ongoing progress!

Nehemiah Spring Graduation

Staff attended the Nehemiah Spring Graduation, which celebrated the achievements of their service users.  It was a very lovely afternoon, with many heart-warming stories from the graduates as they shared their journeys.

Training for Service Users

We have had a steady stream of courses sent to service users, including Rail Engineering, Electrician Apprenticeships and Business Start-Up.  The uptake for these has been very good.

First Aid Training

The ATC team have recently updated their first-aid certificates to ensure all our staff are first-aid trained in compliance with the The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. We all enjoyed the training and learnt some very useful things during the day.

Donation from Newstead Wood School 
We have recently received a donation from Newstead Wood School in Orpington.  Year 9 pupils thoughtfully organised an event of fundraising activities and have chosen to donate the money raised to our charity to enable us to enhance our facilities.  We thank them very much for their generosity.

Empowerment Workshops

Well done and thank you to those who have attended our Empowerment Workshops.  The topic for this month was 'Interview Techniques/Time Management and Productivity.' All topics have been both enlightening and encouraging, and we are grateful to Optimum Focus for delivering these.  We will be planning further workshops such as this in the future.  Congratulations to Ramone and Lerone for attending all workshops.  They will both receive a £50 Argos voucher.

Service User of the Month

The Service User of the Month reward goes to Brian, for his consistency since joining ATC. 
Brian has completed training and secured employment in construction.  He has displayed drive and determination, and has also been a great asset to his house.  His room upkeep is immaculate, and he is punctual with his service charge payments.  Brian will receive a reward.

Empowerment Workshops

Ability to Change are now running Empowerment Workshops for our service users.  The topics for this month are: 'Media Portrayal' and 'Presentation & Appearance.'   The workshops are facilitated by ATC and delivered by Optimum Focus, and will run from March until May 2019.  More information can be found in our Courses and Workshops page.

The Service User of the Month reward goes to Lerone for his progress since joining ATC.   Lerone is currently undertaking the Gas Utilisation Course, his service charge payments and regular and punctual and the upkeep of his room is immaculate.   Lerone will receive a reward.  Keep up the good work! 

Asbestos Training

ATC hosted an Asbestos Awareness Training Course, provided by United Living and eBrit Services. 
All attendees received a certificate in Asbestos Awareness.

Well done to the service users who attended.  The training provider has also made us aware of upcoming apprenticeships, which is a great opportunity for ATC service users.

First Aid Training

Ability to Change staff, mentors, service users and volunteers, undertook a first aid training course with Tutor Care.  It was a very valuable session and we all learnt a lot from the course.

Ability to Change worked with some Year 8 students at Oasis Academy Coulsdon, for the charity based competition, 'First Bid.'  The students will use the work that our charity does as their competition entry and if successful, Ability to Change could receive a prize of £1000.
