“Ability to Change has helped me in many ways over the years, but the main help that changed the game for me was a second chance to be housed again, which kept my days and nights steady so I could figure out what was next. A big thank you to all the team!"
Germaine
“Thank you guys for all the support towards getting my place and employment, and all the help with courses. A big shout out to my Support Worker for checking on me, even on his days off, and making sure I stick to the plan. Without him, I would have probably given up."
Matthew
“I've been with ATC for three years and when I came, I had nothing and didn't know what I wanted to do. They helped me with employment and helped me to progress. Thank you for the opportunity!"
Nathan
“First and foremost, a massive big up and thanks to ATC. They housed me and helped me when I was in a situation. I've been with them for over 3 years and it has been a pleasure working with you guys. You've helped me with finding courses which helped me to find employment. Thanks so much for all that you have done."
Leon
“Thank you to the Team. I am thankful. I kept my head down and they looked after me. I got a sense of direction in life and there is light at the end of the tunnel!"
Kirron
“Thank you to the whole of ATC for helping me to change my life around. They believed in me and never gave up on me, even when times got hard. Thank you for helping me to gain many qualifications and most importantly, helping me to secure a home to call my own. It's been a long journey but I am so happy right now.”
Aspal
“All I can say is thank you to the ATC team for supporting me upon my release. They've helped me in many ways: to get into construction, giving me encouragement and advice - I feel like my dignity is coming back a little. I have seen a different perspective in life and all I want is to make my children proud and continue to be successful. Thank you ATC!”
Francis
“My time at Ability to Change has been a great experience. I was able to achieve my CSCS qualification and I recently moved into my own accomodation. I still get a call from the ATC team checking in and following up on my progress. I received so much support from the team and I thank you for your continuous help."
Glen
"I arrived at Ability to Change literally with just the clothes on my back. I had nothing and I was in a bad place that no one should be in. They applied for my birth certificate and provisional driving licence. They gave me a place to stay, which for me, was home. Through being with them, I gained my independence and confidence. Best of all, I am now living in my own place and have a steady job."
Through his time with Ability to Change, Glen has gained a CSCS card, and completed a PTS National Railway Course, which allowed him to have a career in construction.
Ellis
“Since I’ve been with Ability to Change, I gained my CSCS card, which was very helpful to me. Ability to Change has supported me in so many ways, where other agencies have not. I told ATC that I love to do plastering, and they instantly found me a taster plastering course, which I enjoyed. This is one of the best charities I’ve been to that have housed me, and given me opportunities regarding skills development, as well as mental support.”
Ellis has gained his independence and recently moved into his own studio flat.
Jordan
"The same day I came out of prison, Ability to Change gave me a home to live in and they were very helpful in every way. Since I have been with them, I have managed to keep out of trouble and stay away from bad company. With their support, they helped me to build a stable step for myself that I can expand on."
Jordan is currently attending a PTS National Railway Course.
Lorenzo
“I came out of prison, I was homeless. Ability to Change helped to give me a home to live in, and they were very helpful in every way. Once I moved in I was given house accessories, and they also managed to help me to get on a CSCS course which lasted for two weeks. I completed the course and after this, I did a PTS Railway Track course. Since I’ve been with Ability to Change I've managed to keep out of trouble and stay away from bad company. I’ve changed a lot since I’ve met them - they have pushed me a lot in every single way. I could not ask for anything more or anything less. All I can say is THANK YOU to Ability to Change.”
Lorenzo has since completed a mentoring course through Ability to Change and is now working as an outreach worker. He is also on his way to securing his own flat.
Karl
"I arrived at Ability to Change a broken man. All my life I've always been in and out of prison. I suffered with many addictions and problems. During the year I was with Ability to Change, they referred me to Turning Point, which helped me to get back on my feet. I can truly say they never gave up on me. I got support with managing my finances and budgeting. They helped me to get my own studio flat, which gave me my independence. I'm so grateful - this charity is one of a kind!"
Even though Karl has his own studio flat, we still provide him with floating support.
Jerome
“Ability to Change helped me a lot. I didn't have a safe environment to live in and Ability to Change provided me with this, which helped me out a lot because it made me feel more comfortable and at peace. They’ve done a lot for me - they also helped me with renewing my passport and provisional license, which opened more opportunities for me. If it wasn’t for them it would have taken me a bit longer to get it, because I wasn't working. Working with them helped me to build a stable step for myself that I can expand on.”
Raheem
"Seriously, thank you so much for the length you lot have gone to, to help me. I've really never had this level of help before. Honestly, I couldn't ask for anything more than the support you have shown me. Ability to Change also provided me with counselling and designated me my own coach mentor to guide me when I would sometimes stray off path - thank you for that."
Throughout Raheem's time with Ability to Change, he has gained his levels 1 and 2 Maths and
English. He is currently undertaking a diploma in Electrical installation and Gas.
He also passed his driving test with a sponsorship he received from Optimum Focus.
Dwayne
"Ability to Change helped me to acquire my CSCS card, which led me to get a job in the construction field. I had a nice place to stay and received help with anything that I had a problem with. I was also able to complete a mentoring course whilst I was a resident at Ability to Change, which has now enabled me to do mentoring work with other young people.
I am now living in my own accommodation, in a nice area and this is all because of the support I received from this charity."
Stephen
"I would like to say a big thank you to the ATC team for supporting me when I was homeless. They've given me a place to live for 8 months and I'm very grateful for that. I passed my CSCS course and now I'm looking forward to moving into my flat. Thank you for making my dream come true.
Much appreciated and thank you again!"
Julian

"Very refreshing to see great resettlement results like this. In a whole year, I have only managed to place three people into proper placements on the day of release, and two of them have been with your service and this is thanks to your flexible approach."
